BUZZ: The Rover with “serious star power attached, looks like potential Cannes territory”

With the official announcement for Cannes Film Festival selections a month away, the buzz continues for The Rover. The Playlist included the film in their Predicting the 2014 Cannes Film Fest Lineup list (as well as their post header) and we couldn’t be happier with the positive vibes for Michôd’s sophomore feature film.

From The Playlist:

“The Rover” (dir. David Michod)
Cast: Robert Pattinson, Guy Pearce, Scoot McNairy, David Field, Anthony Hayes
Not every filmmaker can be a returning face at Cannes—everyone needs to make their Croisette debut at some point. One of the most likely to be headed to the South of France this year would appear to be Australian filmmaker David Michod, who announced himself as a major talent with “Animal Kingdom” a few years back. His latest, a moody post-apocalyptic Western with some serious star power attached, looks like potential Cannes territory, has been gently rumored for a while, and appears to be perfectly timed — it shot in January 2013, already has a teaser trailer out there, and will be released in the U.S. by A24 in July.

The Rover opens in LA/NYC June 13th, nationwide in the US June 20th and July 31st in Australia. Other regions are still TBD.

Since I don’t live in NYC or LA, I won’t complain … because I’ll be busy that week anyway. But my schedule is wide open for the 20th! I can’t wait to start searching the local theaters to see if/when they’re showing The Rover.

Hoping it does AWESOME at Cannes … that might mean a wider release, right?

Waiting with bated breath for the Rover to appear in my area on June 20th. Can’t wait to see Rob on the big screen again. Loved Animal Kindgdom and the Rover should prove just as good, especially with Rob in it.
